How to Maintain Healing Momentum
If you’re anything like me, you know that healing after abortion isn’t a one-and-done event. You decide one day to let go of the pain, only to realize the next day that you’re carrying it again. You consciously set down the pain … and discover a few hours or days later that you somehow picked it up again without even noticing. Once again you set it down.
Healing is a process of letting go … again and again and again and again…. It’s a journey—a winding road with unexpected turns, quiet moments, and the occasional pothole. Some days, you feel like you’re making progress. Other days, it’s hard even to get out of bed.
That’s why I created my newsletter at lotusleaper.com. It’s one more tool that will offer a slightly more concentrated dose of post-abortion support. It’s a gentle, loving space where I share simple, effective tips to help you keep moving forward, even when healing feels impossible. You’ll find real stories, practical tools, encouragement, and reminders that you’re not alone—delivered straight to your inbox.
And here’s the deal. I'm not just someone who writes about healing. I'm a whole person living a full life, just like you. That's why I'll also be sharing more personal "off-road" stories from time to time. These might be anything from what I'm currently reading (I'm always deep in some book that's shifting how I see the world) to whatever hobby has captured my attention lately. Maybe I'll tell you about the terrible sourdough bread I attempted last week or the hiking trail that left me both exhausted and oddly inspired. I believe that healing happens in the context of real life—messy, beautiful, ordinary life—and I want you to see that side of me too. When we share our humanity with each other, it reminds us that we're not broken; we're simply human.
I know how isolating abortion trauma can feel. When I was working through my own pain (the same journey I share in Already Forgiven), I often wished there was a little more guidance, a little more kindness, and a little less judgment. My hope is that this newsletter can be that for you: a small light, a steady presence, and a place where your healing is honored—right alongside the everyday moments that make up a life.
Whether you’re looking for journal prompts, mindful rituals, funny stories, or just a reassuring word on a hard day, you’ll find it in my emails. And yes, you might also discover my latest obsession with houseplants or hear about the book that made me cry on public transportation. Healing isn't about perfection—it's about showing up for yourself, again and again, with as much compassion as you can muster. It's about remembering that you're a complete person with interests, dreams, struggles, and joys that extend far beyond your pain.
